Google to delete millions of abandoned Gmail accounts next month

As announced in May 2023, Google will begin closing down unused Gmail account s in December 2023. The move comes as a way to curb attacks and security threats such as spam, phishing scams and account hijacking. Abandoned account s are more prone to attacks as they are not updated with frequent security updates such as two-factor authentication (2FA) that improve account protection. Google said that it would send multiple notifications before deleting the account s. Twitter to provide 'amnesty' to some suspended accounts next week

Elon Musk said on Thursday that Twitter will provide a "general amnesty " to suspended account s starting next week after running a poll on whether to do so for users who had not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam. In a poll Musk posted on Twitter on Wednesday, 72.4% of the more than 3.16 million users who took part voted in favor of bringing back those who had been suspended by the social media platform. Twitter's checkmark chaos continues as more fake, deceased and unpaid users get their account s verified. After the deadline of April 20th, Twitter removed the blue checkmarks from the accounts that did not pay for its Twitter Blue subscription. Due to this act, many high-profile accounts, celebrities and influencers lost the verification badge from their accounts. Bank customers locked out of accounts due to ‘outage’

Customers of Suncorp Australia are unable to access their bank accounts due to an outage , the bank has confirmed. Several customers took to social media, complaining they could not access their accounts through the Suncorp app or via the website on Tuesday afternoon. “I had a heart attack,” said one person on Twitter. Elon Musk restores suspended twitter accounts post backlash

Elon Musk reinstated the Twitter accounts of several journalists that were suspended for a day over a controversy on publishing public data about the billionaire's plane. The reinstatements came after the unprecedented suspensions evoked stinging criticism from government officials, advocacy groups and journalism organizations from several parts of the globe on Friday, with some saying the microblogging platform was jeopardizing press freedom.
