Uber says it's working with Tesla to boost EV adoption

Uber is working with Tesla to promote use of electric vehicles by its drivers in the United States as it works towards becoming emission-free in US and Canadian cities by 2030, the ride-hailing platform told Reuters on Tuesday. Uber is offering its drivers exclusive purchase incentives of up to $2,000 for Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y, apart from existing federal tax credits. "We know from listening to Uber drivers that the cost of ownership and access to convenient charging are the top two barriers preventing them from going electric, and we are ... WhatsApp is working on cross-platform messaging

A new WhatsApp Android beta update (version 2.23.19.8) released today contains a new screen called Third-party chats. Reported by WABetaInfo, the title suggests that Meta might be working on encrypted messages across cross-platforms. The Beta update was released just days after the European Commission confirmed WhatsApp owner Meta meets the definition of a “gatekeeper” under the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) and will be required to interoperate with third-party messaging apps by March 2024. The law is aimed at keeping gatekeepers “from imposing unfair conditions” and to “ensure the openness of important digital services.” The apps will have to allow their users to remove pre-installed apps or shop alternative app stores. Telstra ‘working urgently’ to fix national outage affecting calls

Telstra customers are experiencing a major outage as the telco reports issues with making and receiving calls. Technicians are working to fix the national problem and restore the network, and say it’s unclear when the issue will be fixed. Twitter working on payments feature

Twitter Inc is working to introduce payments on the social media platform and has begun applying for regulatory licenses, the Financial Times reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. New boss Elon Musk is pushing Twitter to create new streams of revenue as it faces a drop in advertising income, following his $44-billion takeover of the company in October. The development on the payments feature is being led Esther Crawford, a director of product management at Twitter, according to the report, which added that the executive was emerging to be a key lieutenant to Musk.
