Google plans ad sales restructuring as automation booms

Alphabet-owned Google plans to reorganize a big part of its 30,000-person ad sales unit, The Information reported on Tuesday, citing a person with knowledge of the situation. Sean Downey, who oversees ad sales to big customers in the Americas, said at a department-wide meeting last week that Google plans to restructure its ad sales teams without specifying whether the move would include layoffs, according to the report. Google intended to consolidate staff, including through possible layoffs, by reassigning employees at its large customer sales unit who oversee relationships with major advertisers, the report said, citing another person briefed on Google's plans . Genesis says no immediate plans to file for bankruptcy

Cryptocurrency lender Genesis said on Monday it has no immediate plans to file for bankruptcy , days after the collapse of crypto exchange FTX forced it to suspend customer redemptions. "We have no plans to file bankruptcy imminently. Our goal is to resolve the current situation consensually without the need for any bankruptcy filing," a Genesis spokesperson said in an emailed statement to Reuters, adding that it continues to have conversations with creditors. A report from Bloomberg News, citing sources, said Genesis was struggling to raise fresh cash for its lending unit, and warning investors it may need to file for bankruptcy if it does not find funding. Elon Musk's X launches two new premium subscription plans

Elon Musk's social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, rolled out two new subscription plans on Friday, including a Premium+ tier for users willing to pay for an ad-free experience. The Premium+ plan, priced at about $16 per month, includes all the tools and features offered by the platform, minus the ads, the company said in a post on the platform. It will, however, be available for users accessing the platform through a web browser for now, it added. The basic tier is priced at $3 per month but is not ad-free. OpenAI plans major updates to lure developers with lower costs

Alibaba tells Erdogan it plans to invest $2 billion in Turkey

ISTANBUL: Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd has told Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan it plans to invest $2 billion in Turkey. Michael Evans, president of Alibaba, made the comments in a meeting with Erdogan, according to a statement from the company's Turkish unit. It did not specify when the invest ment would be made. Evans also said Alibaba has invest ed $1.4 billion in Turkey through its unit Trendyol, one of Turkey's best known e-commerce platforms, the statement said. Erdogan is in the United States to attend the 78th session of the U.N. General Assembly. X plans to collect users’ biometric data after seeking consent 

As per reports, X plans to collect biometric data along with Education and employment History . The new privacy policy will go into effect from September 29, 2023. As per the policy, the platform will seek consent from the users before collecting their biometric information. As of now, X has not specified how they will collect this information and what they exactly mean by it. As per the reports of Bloomberg, biometrics are for premium users and will give them the option to submit their government ID and an image for verification purposes. Telstra customers are facing a price increase on their mobile phone plans of up to $72 a year, with the telco the latest to introduce bill price hikes despite cost of living pressures. Increases on mobile post-paid plans and mobile broadband plans will come into effect on July 4, with Telstra notifying customers of the changes earlier this month.
