The world’s largest active volcano , Mauna Loa, is erupting for the first time in nearly 40 years. Though lava is flowing down one side of the volcano , it is not threatening communities, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said midday Monday. At that time the Honolulu National Weather Service tweeted that “the threat for ashfall has ended,” but warned that “people with respiratory illnesses or sensitivities should continue to be mindful” of potentially low air quality.
