OpenAI's ChatGPT breaches privacy rules, says Italian watchdog

Italy's data protection authority has told OpenAI that its artificial intelligence chatbot application ChatGPT breaches data protection rules, the watchdog said on Monday as it presses ahead with an investigation started last year. The authority, known as Garante, is one of the European Union's most proactive in assessing AI platform compliance with the bloc's data privacy regime. Last year it banned ChatGPT over alleged breaches of EU privacy rules. The service was subsequently reactivated after OpenAI addressed issues concerning, among other things, the right of users to decline to consent to its use of personal data to train its algorithms. At the time, the regulator said it would continue its investigations. It has since concluded that there are elements indicating one or more potential data privacy violations, it said in a statement without providing further detail. PlayStation enforces permanent ban for Code of Conduct breaches

Playstation is permanent ly suspending accounts due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement. On Monday, various social media platforms were flooded with complaints about the suspension of PlayStation accounts without any notice. In a blog posted on its website, Sony informed users that the accounts are being temporarily or permanent ly suspended based on types of Code of Conduct breaches . Once the account gets suspended, the user will see an error code when attempting to sign in. The company will also send an email stating the reason for suspension. The suspensions are final with no appeals, except for account debt suspensions which are lifted upon balance payment. Permanent suspensions may be appealed under certain conditions. Millions of people at risk of data breaches due to using common passwords, research finds

Millions of people around the world are continuing to use passwords such as “12345” and “password” despite the increasing risk of data breaches and cyberattacks. Research conducted by an investigative team from Cybernews has found that of more than 15 billion publicly leaked passwords it analysed, only 2 billion were considered unique. The password “123456” was the most commonly used password, with “123456789”, “qwerty”, “password” and “12345” all featuring in the top five. It also said a steady increase in the usage of years from 1940 to 1990 could directly relate to when the password creators were born.
