Winter solstice 2023: Australia's shortest day of year

As temperatures plummet across the country, Australians are rugging up as we head into winter, with the season’s solstice occurring this week. This Thursday, June 22, is the winter solstice, which is the shortest day — and longest night — of the year in the Southern Hemisphere.
