Twitter, now known as X, appears to be working on its verification method for premium users , with the app asking for a government-issued ID and a live photo to verify accounts. Blue checkmarks are available to those who pay for X Premium, formerly Twitter Blue, a subscription service which also offers users a host of special features including the ability to edit posts, write longer posts and undo posts. Indian editors decry government move to police online news

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Editors Guild of India is deeply disturbed by the government 's move to police news on social media through a self-appointed fact-checking unit, the industry body said on Friday, describing the new rules as draconian and akin to censorship. The amendments to the country's IT rules make it obligatory on platforms "not to publish, share or host fake, false or misleading information" about the government . TikTok CEO: App has never shared US data with Chinese government

TikTok's chief executive will tell lawmakers the Chinese-owned short video app with more than 150 million American users has never, and would never, share US user data with the Chinese government amid growing US national security concerns. "TikTok has never shared, or received a request to share, US user data with the Chinese government. Nor would TikTok honor such a request if one were ever made," CEO Shou Zi Chew will testify on Thursday, according to written testimony posted on Tuesday by the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee. US government receives hundreds of new UFO reports

The US government has received more than 350 new reports of what it terms “unidentified aerial phenomenon”, or UFOs, since March 2021 – roughly half of which are unexplained, an Office of the Director of National Intelligence report released on Thursday reveals.
