Canadian federal police says they were targeted by cyberattack

Canadian federal police said on Friday their systems were targeted by an "alarming" cyber attack but there was no impact on operations and no known threat to the safety of Canadians. "The situation is evolving quickly but at this time, there is no impact on RCMP operations and no known threat to the safety and security of Canadians," a spokesperson for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police told reporters on Friday afternoon. "While a breach of this magnitude is alarming, the quick work and mitigation strategies put in place demonstrate the significant steps the RCMP has taken to detect and prevent these types of threats," the spokesperson added. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said they launched a probe into the attack and were trying to determine the extent of the breach, adding there were no known impacts on intelligence services. Australia Inc roiled by raft of cyberattacks this year

Australian firms have suffered a flood of cyberattacks, putting the spotlight on country's understaffed cybersecurity industry which experts say seems ill-equipped to tackle such hacks, thus endangering sensitive information of millions of people. Here is a list of companies that have been hit by data breaches so far this year: Optus Australia's second-largest mobile operator and a unit of Singapore Telecommunications was the first to report a data breach that affected up to 10 million customers, about 40% of the nation's population. The data exposed included home addresses, drivers' licences and passport numbers. ‘Dog poo car attacker’ allegedly slings fresh torrent of ‘vile’ words online

A Queensland woman who alleged ly covered a legally parked car in front of her house with dog poo and hot water, in retaliation for the motorist ignoring a handwritten “no parking” sign, has launched a fresh attack , the victim says. A cyber crook claims to be selling the stolen data of hundreds of millions of users including celebrities, businesses and government organisations on an online hacking forum.
