McAfee has unveiled a new Project called Mockingbird to combat AI voice clone scamming with a detection tool that will identify AI-generated deepfakes. Australians have been warned to look out for scammers pretending to be from myGov following a sharp increase in reported cases. Scam watch tweeted that reports of myGov scams were up 160 per cent in January compared with December 2022. It posted examples of the scam, in both email and text format, in which the consumer was told they were owed a sum of money.
