McAfee unveils project Mockingbird to stop AI voice clone scams

McAfee has unveiled a new Project called Mockingbird to combat AI voice clone scamming with a detection tool that will identify AI-generated deepfakes. McAfee has created its own AI-powered Deepfake Audio Detection Technology , dubbed Project Mockingbird, revealed at CES 2024. The innovative detection tool will aim to protect its consumers from AI-generated audio to per Pet rate scams and manipulate public perception. Video cloning has allowed scammers to start a video or audio with a well-known speaker and make them utter words of their own desire, that the person never said. Scamwatch warns Australians amid reports of myGov scams spike

Australians have been warned to look out for scammers pretending to be from myGov following a sharp increase in reported cases. Scam watch tweeted that reports of myGov scams were up 160 per cent in January compared with December 2022. It posted examples of the scam, in both email and text format, in which the consumer was told they were owed a sum of money. Watch the latest news and stream for free on 7plus >> One consumer was sent an email saying they were “eligible to receive a sum of 198.92 AUD” from myGov. “To submit the application electronically please fill out the form. Once completed you will be asked to confirm that the information in the document is correct,” the email read. Scam watch tweeted an example of an email from a scammer pretending to be from myGov.
