At first, the traffic light appears normal and shows a red light.

But Jackson reveals this is not actually the case.

“Now red light can’t pass through a cyan filter right, yet you’re still seeing red right?” he asks.

“It’s actually your brain working overtime convincing you it’s red.”

By removing the cyan filter, the red light turns a grey colour. However, Jackson notes our brains automatically assume the colour is still red due to our common knowledge of the colours of traffic lights.

When Jackson blocks off the rest of the image, our brains focus just on the colour, which turns out to be grey.

The video has gained almost two million likes and thousands of comments from confused TikTokers.

“I was so convinced you edited the red part so I covered the rest myself and it’s the real deal,” one user said.

“Thanks for breaking my brain… mind blown,” another added.

A third piped in: “Not my own brain gaslighting me.”
