Melbourne’s The Cornish Arms in Brunswick slammed for rude receipt comment

A Melbourne restaurant has been slammed over a rude comment on a customer’s receipt, labelling the diners “f****** bogans”.

The receipt, shared on social media, shows a comment from staff underneath an order for a glass of pinot grigio saying “ice in it f****** bogans”.

“The lovely note that a restaurant left on my friend’s dinner receipt,” the social media user captioned the photo.

The Cornish Arms Hotel in Brunswick confirmed it received a complaint from the customer on July 25, three days after the incident.

“Staff were spoken to and reminded of their workplace responsibilities and the junior staff member then came forward to management and was very apologetic, not realising it would print on the customer’s receipt,” the restaurant told 7NEWS.com.au.

“She has been spoken to and placed on a three-month probation.

“Her comment in no way reflects the values of the Cornish Arms and we will continue to educate and train staff to ensure the business evolves.

“The customer has since been spoken with and will be returning for a meal on us soon.”

New 'petabit-scale' optical disc can store as much information as 15,000 DVDs

Scientists have developed a new type of optical disc that can increase information storage capacity to the "petabit" level — 125 terabytes of data, or the combined storage capacity of about 15,000 DVDs.  Optical discs, such as DVDs and Blu-ray discs, are durable and inexpensive. A standard single-layer Blu-ray disc can store 25 gigabytes. By comparison, some USB flash drives can store 1TB, and hard disk drives (HDDs) can hold up to 16TB.
