Threads users can now delete account without deleting Insta

In a recent update Instagram Head, Adam Mosseri, said that Instagram accounts won't be affected if Threads account on the app is deleted. Threads users will easily be able to remove their accounts via Settings, on the app.

The untanglement with Instagram had been a long-requested feature for many Threads users, who couldn't purge their profiles without automatically deleting Instagram. This new change comes right after a Meta update that lets Threads users opt out of having to post their Threads on Facebook and Instagram feeds.

It seems likely that Meta will soon separate Threads from other social media platforms under Meta, as the app becomes more independent. The company has already said that it intends to make the platform compatible with ActivityPub, an open-source protocol that powers Mastodon and other services in the fediverse.

Bitcoin had rallied on growing excitement the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) would approve bitcoin ETFs, opening up the cryptocurrency to a slew of new investors. Bitcoin gained around 70% from August, when a federal court forced the SEC to review its decision to reject Grayscale Investment's bitcoin ETF application. Some analysts said they had expected bitcoin to initially pare some of those gains. Other market-watchers said on Monday the cryptocurrency was having trouble competing with traditional stocks after the S&P 500 benchmark index notched fresh record highs on Monday driven by semiconductor and ...

Low-level blasts from heavy weapons can cause traumatic brain injury − 2 engineers explain the physics of invisible cell death

When the force of a blast shoots a round out of a large-caliber rifle, howitzer or M1 Abrams tank gun, the teams of people operating these weapons are exposed to low-level blasts that can cause traumatic brain injuries. Low-level blasts do not cause visible trauma, such as bleeding from ruptured eardrums, and they don’t cause injury through violent head motion, such as a concussion. Yet, these blasts can cause physical changes in the brain that lead to a host of neuropsychiatric symptoms. The link between the force of a blast and the resulting changes in the brain is not completely understood. So our team of engineers and scientists in the PANTHER program, funded by the Department of Defense, is using physics to elucidate how blasts cause traumatic brain injury. What is a blast? When a weapon like a rifle is fired, the round is initially in its barrel. Pulling the trigger engages a primer that produces a flame, igniting the propellant. This chemical reaction releases store...
